Saramsam Café is a Fusion restaurant of Ilocano and Western dishes. Owned by Mr. Sam Blas of Herencia Café and Balay de Blas. Known for their Dinuguan Pizza and Poqui-poqui, a must try when you’re in Laoag. Decided to have our super late lunch/merienda in this quaint restaurant.

Filipinos loves sinigang, we tried their Blue Marlin Sinigang which happens to be the catch of the day. Served hot with plenty of veggies. The sourness is just right with flaky and moist blue marlin chops. Ang sarap!

A popular Ilocano dish. Dinakdakan is grilled pork head (ears, snout, cheeks) combined with mayonnaise and pig’s brain with slices of ginger, onion and chili. I really enjoyed the taste of this dish and the spiciness is sooooo mild (as requested from the staff).

Since it was our lunch time and we are craving for rice, just to experience the poqui poqui, we didn’t order the pizza (which they are known for) instead we order it as is, Poqui Poqui is like our tortang talong, the Ilocano version is chopped grilled eggplant sautéed with onions, tomatoes and egg, and it was really oohhh soooo gooooood. There’s the sweetness from the tomato and eggplant and the creaminess from the egg.

Refreshing Iced tea beats the hot weather outside.
The interior of the café, love the miss-matched furniture and linen used. They also have a display of Ilocano delicacies that is for sale.
